Main Ingredients
Rice, Lentils

Ingredients Method
2 cups of rice
1 cup of red lentils (toor dhal)
or yellow lentils (Moong dhal)
1 tablespoon of butter or ghee

For seasoning:
2 teaspoons of salt (or to taste)
¼ tspn of tumeric powder
3 – 5 cloves (lovin)
1 stick (4cm) cinnamon (tuj)


Preparation
Wash the lentils several times until water is clear, then drain.
Wash the rice several times until water is clear, then drain.
  1. Put 4 cups of water into a pressure cooker.

  2. When water comes to the boil, add lentils and rice

  3. Add tumeric powder, salt, cloves, cinnamon and a
    knob of butter/ghee

  4. Stir and add water so it is twice the level of the ingredients

  5. Shut the lid and leave on medium heat for about 15 minutes

  6. Allow to cool, remove lid and serve

Serves: 4 - 6
